Overview

One of the largest lake-based museums in Japan, with a wide variety of exhibits. Among them is an aquarium that only contains freshwater fish, a considerable rarity. It includes not only rare species overall but also every type of fish indigenous to Lake Biwa and then others from across Japan and the world.

JR Biwako Line Kusatsu Station West Exit 25 min by bus Take the Karasuma Hanto bound bus (approx. 25 min.), 2 min. on foot after alighting at the "Biwako Hakubutsukan Mae" bus stop
