Doganji Temple Kannondo (Kogenji Temple)
The statue of Eleven Faced Kannon located in the Doganji Temple Kannondo is said to be the greatest masterpiece in Japanese sculpting history, and the most beautiful from all seven of the Eleven Faced Kannon statues that are designated as National Treasures.
Townscape of Gokasho Kondo (Omi Merchant Houses)
The Gokasho Kondo is a region with strong links to the Omi Merchants, and has been designated a Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, as well as a Japan Heritage site in 2015.
Nakasendo Road Samegaijuku (Jyuousui, Jizokawa River)
Jizokawa River is comprised of pure spring water such as Isame no Shimizu, and is famous for the extremely rare water buttercups that grow in the river.
Toyosato Elementary School Old School Buildings
Take a tour around the school that was used as the setting for the popular anime “K-On!” There are also guided tours that allow you to see rooms and facilities that are not open to regular tours.
Omizo Waterside Sightseeing
The ruins of Omizo-jo Castle and the old castle town were reorganized by the powerful Wakebe clan, and the old waterworks and water channels that draw water from mountains and wells are still being used by residents today.
Tachiki-kannon Temple
The grounds of Tachiki-kannon Temple are located up a flight of 800 steep stone steps.
